Puto bumbong is one of the Filipino delicacies that is popularly eaten every Christmas. It is a purple rice cake made of steamed black glutinous rice called pirurutong. It is served with butter, sugar granules, and grated coconut.
Originally it is cooked by stuffing and steaming it in bamboo tubes. However, sellers are now using silver cookwares which makes the preparation of this delicacy more convenient.
Vendors would normally wrapped it in banana leaf which makes it even more appetizing.
This is often sold in smoky stalls in the streets and are often eaten on an early breakfast or at night.
